IRRSA representatives in Strasbourg
The Information Office of the European Parliament in Bulgaria marks the Day of Europe with the publication of a newspaper, written by students, for the third year in a row. The candidates had to write an essay on one of the following topics: „The election for European parliament. This time it will be different“ or „The election for European parliament. My voice is important“. Over 100 people submitted their essays and 16 were chosen to participate. Among these 16 were the members of IRRSA Stanislava Damyanova (alumni member) and Dimitar Cherkezov.
From the 11th to the 13th of March the participants visited the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The agenda was loaded. On the 11th the student met the Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, Kristalina Georgieva. On the following day there were meetings with Ioannis Darmis, Head of the Media Services and Media Monitoring Unit, General Directorate for Communication, Teodor Stoychev, Press officer of the Information Office of the European Parliament in Bulgaria, Maria Padevska, as well as the Bulgarian MEP’s Iliana Iotova, Svetoslav Malinov, Mariya Gabriel. The meetings had the following format – every one of the listed above talked about what their activities are and then the students asked questions. The most commented topics were the conflict in Syria and the refugee crisis, the situations in Ukraine and Africa, the rights of the women.
After the coming back in Bulgaria, the students will have to write articles for the newspaper for the Day of Europe.
