Public Lecture with the French ambassador in Bulgaria
On 21.02.2017 International Relations Research Student Association had the pleasure to greet the new ambassador of France – H.E. Éric Lebédel in the University of National and World Economy. The event was attended by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Igor Damyanov, Dean of Faculty of International Economy and Politics, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Andrey Georgiev, head of the International Relations Department, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Plamen Ralchev, Prof.Dr. Dinko Dinkov, Iliyan Krumov, chairman of IRRSA, and many students.
The meeting was opened by the chairman of IRRSA Iliyan Krumov. He presented the biography of HE Éric Lebédel to students and teachers. HE Éric Lebédel Ambassador of France in Bulgaria from October 2016 His career is impressive rich: he was first secretary of the Embassy of France in Moscow, counselor at the French Embassy in the US, director in the department of "Strategic issues" by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, General Consul of France in Istanbul, worked at the International Secretariat of NATO in Brussels, the General Secretariat for national Defence. He was Permanent Representative of France to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Vienna, Ambassador of France in Finland Ambassador for strategic partnerships and others. He speaks English, Russian, Spanish, German, Turkish, Finnish.
The Topic of the Lecture was „The future of EU and the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and France“. HE Éric Lebédel consider three key questions - "What is Europe now?", "France and Bulgaria - in which Europe?" And "What will be Europe?". He examined the historical facts in the bilateral relations between the two countries, he pointed out as an important geopolitical and political factor Bulgaria, as a country in the European Union. He highlighted Bulgarian progress, and confirmed that, now Bulgaria is seen as a country in Central Europe.
French Ambassador to Sofia formulated key challenges for Bulgaria-terrorism, migration, relations with Turkey, relations with Russia, the Black Sea region. He pointed out that Bulgaria is one of the countries in which euro-skepticism and populism are weak. The European Union has many challenges that must deal with, as one of the main are Brekzit, relations with the new US administration, terrorism, the migration wave, and the development of Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership between the EU and the US.
In his public lecture, HE Eric Lyobedel formulated three basic scenarios for the future of the EU. The first is a federal Europe, which he described as difficult and even impossible, the second, a "Europe of nations, in which strong prevails the sovereignty", the third most acceptable is the revival of the European idea. He ended his lecture by quoting the poem "Where is Bulgaria" Ivan Vazov "Do not underestimate you! Watch not only to the past, but to the future ".
At the end of the discussion, teachers and students had the opportunity to ask questions.

European Youth Event 2016
In May, some members of IRRSA visited the city of Strasbourg, where the European Parliament opened its doors to 7,000 young people from across Europe. The occasion was conducting youth festival, which allow participants to exchange ideas and perspectives on issues related to youth and the development of innovative solutions for the future.
During the event were organized various activities with the aim of presenting the rich cultural diversity within the European Union. Each participant had to choose and prepare their individual program. Most - had great interest to educational games and discussions on various topics, where some of the participants were able to get feedback from parliamentary committees.
Besides education, the trip was very fun, because All have free time and failed to consider several museums and visit some of the sights of the city. Among the members of IRRSA were Boyan Stavrev, Dimitar Cherkezov, Martin Dimitrov, Spring Kostova, Bettina Lyudmilova, Eleonora Naumova and Lyudmila Petrova.
Annual General Meeting of IRRSA
On May 15, 2016 (Sunday) at "scientific advice" hall was held Annual General Meeting of IRRSA. It started with an annual statement made by the President Boyan Stavrev on the activities of the Association and organized activities and events during the past academic year 2015-2016. After completion of the report, members had the opportunity to comment and express their opinion and assessment of past events.
During the General Assembly among four candidates was elected the new chairman of the Association - Iliyan Krumov. He presented to the audience his ideas for the development of IRRSA and objectives it sets for future activities. President-elect formed a new Board members: Isabella Lazova- Vice President, Blagovesta Andonova- organizational secretary, Venelina Nikolova - treasurer, Proletina Kostova, Kristina Georgieva, Gabriela Petrova - members. Members of the Supervisory Board were elected Dimitar Cherkezov, Evelyn Boshnakova and Ralitsa Sirakova.
At the end of the Annual General Meeting as a honorary members were accepted Boyan Stavrev and George Vulev. Boyan Stavrev was awarded the Plaque of Merit in managing the Association. After a long election day, members of IRRSA wished the new president and the formation team future success and fruitful work in the coming academic year.
Members of IRRSA in Romania
In the period from 8 to April 18, 2016 in Iasi, Romania was held project Erasmus + on the theme "The Value of Grassroots Sports". Three members of IRRSA - Venelina Nikolova, Peter Nikolushev and Hristina Koleva participated in the project. The other participants were representatives of more 13 different European countries.
The organizers were "EURODemos" and 5 more partner organizations among which and Student Association for the Study of International Relations.
10-day program was prepared and strictly complies with all participants. Despite the difference in age and our cultures, we were able to get along as a team and to express their ideas and views. The project was not only a place and a way to learn new skills and acquire knowledge, but also a place for networking and friendships.
As part of the agenda was different sports events and also lectures with guest speaker who can show us the nature and benefits of structured dialogue. At the end of the project all participants received certificates.
Kind hosts organized and cultural tour of the city of Iasi, covering historical and cultural attractions.
Members of iRRSA in Italy
In the period from March 4 to 16, members of IRRSA participated together in the project "Working on a getting a job", in Catania, Sicily. The organizers of the project were from Italy and Ukraine. The project was funded by the Erasmus +.
The project involved 42 participants from 7 different countries: Italy, Poland, Georgia, Belarus, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Romania.
Our days began with various warm-ups, then in the form of different sessions, games and workshop, trying to find ways in which we can fight youth unemployment, but also become more confident and successful job search. In 12 days, we exchanged ideas and experiences, discussed the various ways in which we can use social networks to our advantage, how to write your CV and cover letter, how to do well on a job interview. Representatives of different countries taking turns to lead various sessions, which was helpful as we could see different ways and style of presentation.
We had free time to walk around and know Catania. Also we visited Mount Etna beautiful coastal town of Taormina and Syracuse.
We organized its cultural evenings through which better meet with countries of other participants, and also had the pleasure to try a variety of traditional foods and drinks.
Although we came from different countries we were able to live together 12 days and learn from each other.
